Children walking on tip toes
Have you watched your
child walk some walk? Sometimes on their toes.
Children from ages 3 to 9 have been known to walk this way,
the cause often unknown. Many of the children who walk this way
do so out of habit, a very small percentage have a disorder
associated with the incomplete development of the Achilles
tendon. Irrespective of the cause, treatment is necessary and
readily available.
-
The most effective treatment is lace up medical grade boots
with very stiff soles.
-
General off the shelf boots with a good solid soles
-
Orthoses may be fitted to general footwear.
-
Massage of the Achilles tendon and ankles area.
The aim of the treatment is to keep the feet on the ground as
much as possible, especially the heels.
The Achilles tendon and surrounding muscles need to
stretch and become more mobile when walking.
Several months of treatment are required before a change
will be seen.
