In the early 70’s I began to make and fit Orthotics, but soon realised that they were not meeting the people’s needs. This made me search for something better, which I have now developed, Semi Rigid Orthoses. They have proven to be a great success in healing many chronic pain sufferers.

OVIDIO ORTHOSES

  4. Pre-fabricated in various shapes in all shoe sizes ready for stage 2 fitting.
  5. Mould to the feet and general footwear by wearing them.
  6. No waiting period, professionally custom fitted at the same time as assessment performed. Approx cost from $130.
  7. For relief of chronic pain from the feet up such as: heel pain, back pain, aching feet and discomfort.
  8. Can easily be made to fit in all kinds of footwear including fashion shoes.
  9. Further adjustments can be made after wear for more effective results.
  10. Orthoses often improves shoe fitting and adds longer life to footwear.
  11. Perspiration problems can be improved by taking the orthoses out of the shoes each night to let them dry out for the next day.
  12. Orthoses are durable, repairable and adjustable.
  13. The arch support piece will not compress, break or wear out.
  14. Made to correct posture and re-align the whole body, with adjustment this can be accomplished perfectly.
  15. Fitted to the feet and general footwear. Footwear/Orthoses should fit the feet not vice versa.

CONVENTIONAL ORTHOTICS

  1. Hard and Bulky. Australian made.
  2. Rear of the foot only, no benefit to the forefoot.
  3. Made in plastic and covered in vinyl.
  4. 4. Plaster cast made and sent to a laboratory to mould them
  5. Not able to mould by wear.
  6. Waiting time 3-6 weeks approx cost $300. If they don’t fit , back they go and this involves more waiting time.
  7. Some people get some relief while others continue to have problems or even get worse.
  8. Only fit in roomy footwear such as boots and lace up shoes that provide extra depth.
  9. Minor adjustments are possible.
  10. Orthotics are often difficult to fit and wear in general footwear.
  11. No improvement for perspiration problems.
  12. Orthotics are durable
  13. Arch and heel piece can break sometimes.
  14. Also made to correct posture and re-align the whole body but often fails to accomplish this. The main reason is because adjustments are not always satisfactory
  15. Discomfort is often experienced as they are fitted to the feet but are unsuccessful when inserted and worn in footwear.
